Summer burned the brightest, but the darkness has consumed them.

On Tuesday, September 6, 2022, Summer died.

Summer was diagnosed with a terminal illness called “The Relentless March of Time” back in May. Leading medical experts gave them three months to live. Ever considerate, Summer died exactly on time.

Though Summer’s passing was not unexpected, the tragedy is nonetheless palpable. They had so much potential. Summer wanted to backpack Europe, write screenplays, swim the Caribbean, and go out and make friends, but most of their short life was spent at home in front of a computer screen.

Nevertheless, Summer was hot to the bitter end. Expect rain from here on out.

Summer is remembered by their daughter, Autumn, and their ex-husband, Winter.

The Barnumbia community will be entering a period of mandatory grieving known as “academics” in Summer’s memory. If you need support during these trying times, undergraduates are encouraged to make an appointment with Columbia Psychological Services (CPS) or Furman. Please be advised that CPS is currently experiencing brief wait times of approximately eight months.
