Cost: $12,180 (projected upperclassmen rate for 2024-2025)

Amenities:

  • Bathrooms: Amazing ratio! Suites B, C, and D each usually have two single-use bathrooms, while suite A has three bathrooms: one with toilets, and two with showers. However, every floor varies and some singles and doubles are even lucky enough to have their own bathroom.
  • Kitchen/Lounge: There is a small lounge in the C and D suites on each floor. Suite B is connected to suite C and suite A is connected to suite D, so everyone has access to the lounges.
  • Laundry: Laundry room in the basement. You need to take the elevator down since there are no stairs.
  • AC/Heating: No AC, but heating in every room.
  • Gym: Not included :(
  • Intra-transportation: Two elevators and stairs. Elevator wait times can be longer during rush hour.
  • Facilities: Bathrooms are cleaned by facilities and usually very clean!

Room variety:

  • 45 singles (one-to-four per suite)
  • 73 doubles (177 to 210 sq. ft.)

Typical Residents:

2023 data shows the students who selected into Nuss were 63% rising sophomores, 26% rising juniors, and 11% rising seniors.

Bwog’s Recommendation:

Nuss is a great choice for sophomores with a good lottery number! It’s almost like a perfect crossover between a real apartment and a dorm. You can be close with your suitemates but still have a sense of privacy. The bathroom ratios are great and it’s unlikely you’ll ever need to wait for one. The kitchen is also great for anyone who chooses to be off the meal plan and will be doing lots of cooking. A small downside is the lack of AC and inconsistent heating, however this is the case for many Columbia dorms.

Resident Opinions:

“I loved living with my friends and met some new people through my suite.”

“Nuss is great because there’s a lot of bathrooms and we have no mice.”

“Having a kitchen was very useful and Nuss also has a great location.”
