This writer loves the Ferris Omelet Station!

I’ve never liked Omelets. Ever since I was a kid, I generally hated the taste of eggs.  When I was younger, my mom tried to force my sister and I to eat eggs for breakfast because it was a “good source of protein” but I categorically refused. I think as a kid I partly also wanted to disobey my mom so I fought her whenever she wanted to make me eggs for breakfast. I hated everything about eggs – from the color, the taste, the smell, and cracking the eggs – I despised it all. Up until going to college, I avoided eating eggs at all costs.

My attitude completely changed until I discovered the Ferris Omelet Station. I remember one day freshman year I walked into Ferris to grab some breakfast before my 10:10 but I didn’t like any of the Main Line food so I was like okay why not try some eggs? I cautiously picked out my mushrooms and cheese to be in my omelet and watched in trepidation as it was cooked. I then grabbed the hot sauce and sat down to eat.

To say that I was pleasantly surprised was an understatement. I couldn’t taste the traditional “egg” taste in my omelet and I only tasted the mushrooms and cheese. The omelet was surprisingly good for a dining hall. After that, I continued to go back occasionally for breakfast when I had the time. Maybe I matured, maybe I had never tried a good omelet? Who knows, but it is safe to say that I have been sufficiently converted to liking eggs because of the Ferris Omelet Station.
