Senior Wisdom: the only campus tradition that seems to be 100% pandemic-proof.

The COVID-19 pandemic has led to the cancellation or modification of a number of end-of-year traditions (rip gecchanal 2k20) and the delay of primaries/nominating conventions for both major American political parties. However, there’s one tradition/nomination process that doesn’t have to change—mostly because it was already conducted entirely online in the first place. That’s right, it’s time to nominate your friends/loved ones/nemeses for a ~ Senior Wisdom ~ as we all continue ignoring our changed lifestyles/broken political system for as long as possible.

For those of you who are unfamiliar with Bwog’s storied Columbia tradition: each semester, Bwog calls on a number of graduating seniors from each of the undergraduate schools to impart the knowledge they’ve gained after four years of wandering our beloved Morningside Heights campus (and environs). You can check out some of our greatest hits or use your quarantime wisely by going through our entire archive. That’s 14 years of content right there, babey.

But now that you know what a Senior Wisdom is, you might be asking: how do I know if the senior I know/love is worthy of a Senior Wisdom? Well, they might be someone who has made an impact by leading a campus organization or pouring their time and energy into a cause you also hold dear. Maybe they threw the wildest EC parties (always making sure to get you and your friends a sign-in, of course). Maybe they crushed every exam while still finding time to host weekly dinners for their campus family. Or maybe they just helped you feel really welcome at this school during a time you needed it the most. Only you know whether or not this person is worthy of the honor.

No matter what their achievement, we can’t give someone a Senior Wisdom unless you nominate them for one! Using this handy, 100% anonymous Google form (or if you prefer, emailing tips@bwog.com), let us know your senior’s name, uni, school and why they deserve a Senior Wisdom. They should be graduating this semester, (aka Spring 2020). These nominations are due next Monday, April 20 by 11:59 pm. Any nominations that don’t fit these incredibly broad criteria (or that are submitted late) will be yeeted unto the void. (Also, please note that we receive a huge number of Senior Wisdom nominations each year, and unfortunately, we can’t give every deserving senior a Senior Wisdom. So please be sure to get your nominations in on time and make sure to fill in the why section!)

Without further ado, let’s get to nominating!
