Happening in the World: Around 500 climate activists have blocked a major highway in the Netherlands. The highway leads directly into The Hague, which houses the Dutch government and the International Criminal Court. Due to a strike concerning a pension dispute, the policing of the protest is light, with the strike set to end at 5 pm on Sunday. More than a dozen protests have occurred at this location in the past year, organized by the same group. (Reuters)

Happing in NYC: The Queens Night Market is back at Flushing Meadows Corona Park after a break due to the US Open. The market will last from 4 pm to midnight on Saturdays, providing food items capped at $6. Its 2024 season will run through October 26. Happening in Our Community: The exhibit Disasters, The Stories We Share is on view at the International Affairs building near the entrance to the Lehman Library. The exhibit showcases documentation of life at Rikers Prison, in order to show that prison can be understood as a disaster that harms marginalized people.
