On Wednesday morning, New York City Mayor Eric Adams held a press conference to address the protests at Columbia and CCNY. This comes about 12 hours after Columbia University authorized the use of NYPD officers to remove protesters from Hamilton Hall.

In an email to students on Wednesday, Columbia Provost Angela V Olinto announced the University has advised faculty to shift all remaining final exams to a remote format, among several other suggested accommodations.

On Tuesday afternoon, NYC Mayor Eric Adams and other city officials discussed the ongoing protests at Columbia University, including the recent Hamilton Hall occupation.

On Tuesday afternoon, Columbia University Apartheid Divest held a press conference at Morningside Park to share updates about the Hamilton Hall occupation and other campus updates.

After a vote comprising Barnard’s chapter of the American Association of University Professors voted unanimously for no confidence in the leadership of Barnard President Laura Rosenbury, a similar faculty-wide vote had 77% of voters expressing no confidence.

The referendum and SGA election yielded a 55% voter turnout. Barnard SGA announced its 2024-2025 student representatives. The majority of students also voted for divestment from Israel.

At 2:30 pm on Monday, April 29, Columbia University Apartheid Divest (CUAD) held a press conference to address the end of negotiations and the University’s plans to clear the Encampment.

New developments continue to emerge as negotiations remain between the University and student protesters inside the Encampment.

On Friday evening, President Shafik and other senior administrators sent an email to the Columbia community addressing their hope for a resolution to the ongoing campus situation. In their email, leaders stated the NYPD would not be brought on campus and condemned antisemitism.
