Word from Columbia College University Senators Matthew Chou and Jared Odessky: a USenate seat for the College has opened up. You—yes, you!—can actually apply. Just email the three people in the email you got/that is pasted below. The lucky CC student will be selected via “indirect election,” which is like an election except that the […]
The undergraduate community just received an email detailing an assault on 120th Street. Public Safety is looking for more information. Read the full alert: On September 23, 2013 about 3:40 P.M. a Columbia University affiliate was the victim of an assault on W. 120 St. between Claremont Avenue and Broadway. CCTV shows the males come […]
On Monday, the president of Chile breezed onto College Walk in a motorcade full of bodyguards and aides. Those of us arriving early to hear him speak were hurried along by the public safety officers on the scene. Inside, the stage was set with two podiums – one for President Piñera, and the other for […]

So: on Sept. 21, the (former) co-editors of Quarto sent out an email blast announcing two things: (a) Quarto was”currently on hold”, and (b) a new magazine called 4×4, “a literary project from the editors of Quarto,” was starting. Curious, Bwog met with Aliza Polkes and Sarina Bhandari, former Quarto co-editors and current 4×4 co-editors. Here’s what’s […]
Summit Officer Richard Jenkins has passed away. His funeral and viewing was held yesterday from 4-6:30 p.m. at the Greater Refuge Temple. About 20 students attended his wake. Students knew Jenkins for his work as guard in McBain and Ruggles. Our condolences. We have sought information for where to send flowers/donations.
Elizabeth Self went to a free self defense class, and was the only person there. Ever wondered what you should do if you should be attacked? Probably so, but not enough to go to a class. Anyway, Columbia Shotokan Karate Club is providing free Self Defense classes! Last night they were held in Carman basement lounge, […]
Greetings, Bwog readers. Blue Cheetah here. That’s not my real name, of course. It’s not that I don’t trust you, it’s just too dangerous to be sharing my identity right now. They’re after me. They don’t want me sharing the truth. Who are “they,” you ask? Well, obviously, I can’t tell you. They are listening. […]
“I guess one of the heartening things is how open both students and administrators were about hazing on campus,” sez Wesley Morton, CC ’15 and treasurer of ZBT, whose super mysterious hazing, which neither students nor administrators were at all open about, led to the creation of the anti-hazing admin committee on which Morton now […]

You know what we’re talking about: you’re sitting in lecture, innocently trying to take notes on Thackeray, and the bright screen in front of you attracts your attention. You look up to see what the hell your classmate is googling/watching/buying, and you observe…. Farmville. Is it meta to be playing what looks like Farmville in […]
