On Friday, the Student Workers of Columbia announced it has reached a tentative agreement with the University on a four-year contract, bringing an end to its 10-week strike.

Earlier today, Barnard College released the list of Phi Beta Kappa inductees for Fall 2021. They will be officially inducted into the academic honor society alongside future Spring 2022 inductees. Congratulations to all!

President Lee Bollinger announced the appointment of Dr. Katrina Armstrong as the new Chief Executive Officer of Columbia University Irving Medical Center, Executive Vice President for Health and Biomedical Sciences, and Dean of the Faculties of Health Sciences and Medicine in an email sent earlier today.

In emails sent out to students on Friday evening, the deans of CC, GS, SEAS, and Barnard outlined possible next steps for students in classes affected by the strike to receive credit for the Fall 2021 semester.

Robert Jervis, Harriman Institute faculty and Adlai E. Stevenson Professor of International Politics at SIPA, died at his home on December 9.

This morning, the Student Workers of Columbia began a day-long attempt to “shut down campus” as the strike continues, following a message from University administration saying that striking workers may lose their teaching appointments for the Spring 2022 semester. 

The second victim of the December 2  stabbing attack was also a Columbia affiliate, according to an email from President Lee Bollinger.
