As Seen In Hewitt: “I Think It Is Silly” Edition

lactBwog recently found this note on the Hewitt Dining Hall suggestion board; yes, “4 days” actually is emphasized that heavily.

I think it’s great that you have soy and Lactaid milk for us. I think it is silly, however, to keep them in a chilled creamer dispenser, because they run out much too quickly. This coupled with the fact that they are not checked regularly means I’ve gone without Lactaid for the past 4 days. This is a common occurence. Please either invest in a new container or refill them.

Thank you!

  • 4 DAYS?!?!?!?!?! says:

    1. oh please says:

@oh please Mock all you want, but students would be really riled up if there wasn’t any regular milk for four days. I don’t see why lactose intolerant and vegan students should have to just suck it up, so to speak.

      1. Oh really? says:

@Oh really? Vegans might have to “suck it up”. They have chosen to restrict their diet, so they can expect a large operation like running a dining hall to cater to their choice and offer things they have allowed themselves to eat? Give me a break. If I said I could ONLY eat meat and there were a day where there was only one meat choice, or dare I say none, would I be allowed to be upset?

Lactose intolerant people have a tougher time since they didn’t choose to have the restriction, but they unfortunately have to bear in mind that the dining hall has to cater to the majority first, then attend to the minorities. A more polite (and less hilarious) note would have gotten the point across just as well…

    2. KOOL AID says:

  • I do not drink milk says:

    Bill O’Reilly

  • oh please yourself says:

@oh please yourself are lactose intolerant kids unable to purchase milk in the store, or buy those lactaid pills that let you eat dairy?
the tone of the note was what was funny.

  • don't forget says:

@don't forget that lactaid isn’t a quirky item like marshmallows or chocolate cake that can be offered infrequently to great success – people who drink it drink it on a fairly regular basis.

All of us who’ve attempted to eat in a dining hall for a year know how crucial that cereal-and-milk combo is, especially for nights when dinner sucks… Not to mention the controversy that erupts when the fro-yo machine is broken.
