Parody QuickBwog satirizes us and you, Bwog readers, alike. And now we’re QuickFedding it. How meta is that?
Thankfully, it wasn’t difficult to come up with a “ridiculously forced theme” for the rest of the issue:
Mock Bush Iraq Strategy, including cartoons inexplicably anthropomorphizing bunnies and carrots
Mock…er, real interview with Gulati?
Finally: presses must have been stopped to insert this timely THEY Watch reference to Facebook gifts. The Fed = just one step behind Mark Zuckerberg, who clearly = THEY!
@jester everybody knows CUSJ is the least funny publication on campus. fuck them
@lol/God Kudos RJT, you win.
@fed sucks usually, but the bwog parody was actually funny. i think that’s the first time i’ve ever laughed at the fed… they must have some new and superior staff.
@Fed Staffer The Fed has been strong really from the end of last year or so, but it takes a while to reverse people’s opinions or association with a paper. If any of the campus publications are unfortunate enough to go under for a while, trust us: it takes a lot of time and hard work to nurse it back to health. It’s really a testament to the determination of the current crowd, and the strength of the paper in the olden days, that so many staffers have been willing to invest time into making the thing better (I’m proud of you guys! *sniffles*)
@bogus Whatever, CUSJ has more integrity in its cover than Jester has in an entire issue.
CUSJ > Jester
@But does the jester reference Carl Sandburg? The Fed wins.
@Wow The Jester and the Fed have both been consistently improving, but I seem to notice that Jester is one step ahead in terms of humor.
@inequalities bwog > life
@jester man publications gotta stop stealing our formatZ
@read more: meta, the fed, the jester, cusj, seth flaxman, spectator, eyepoke, campus publications, mutual masturbation, tao tan
@hey! spec > ttan
@actually Flaxman e-mails > everything else, ever
@hey spec = awesome
@lalalala Spec = funny, not trying to bed.
@... Soundings East Asia Monthly > Jester
@..... Orson Scott Card’s “Speaker for the Dead” > CU Science Journal
@ehhhh Your Mom = Your Mom
SYMMETRIC PROPERTY FTW!
@.... CU Science Journal > Jester
@man fuck cusj. jester had more sound science throughout its entire health issue.
@bullshit CUSJ is much better written than Jester, and has a far superior website that doesn’t require adobe to fucking read the issue.
@... Jester > Fed
@nope Jester > a pile of dog shit, barely.
As far as funny –
Bwog > Fed > Jester > Eye humor page > Flaxman e-mails
@You missed b>f>j>e>fe>spectator humor
@wtf when the hell does the spec even attempt humor outside of the eye humor page? spec = not funny, not trying to be
@oped cols do The opeds do, though usually unintentionally
@ttan hey its me
@ttan hey that’s not me
@iue This Fed was worth a perusal, which is more than I can say about previous editions that I’ve slipped on trying to get into my room. I like the improvement, love the meta. Still no Bwog, though.
@shame on you get off bwog and go to bed.
@Uhhh What is the point of publishing a bored@butler screenshot?
@irony it’s supposed to be a parody of b@b, which is impossible. case of reality being far too bizarre to try that.
@The Great Vaganza waiiiit…. waiiiiit…. it’s coming to me… could it be that… it’s a parody of bored@butler designed to look like the site itself?
no, no, that can’t be it… my psychic powers must be amplified…
@No. Yeah, except all of those “mock posts” were actually posted at bored@butler during that time period. The “author” merely took a screenshot. I again ask: why?
@the fed staff posted the mock posts for real, in an attempt to get around the difficulties of indesign layout.
@Ahh Ok…makes sense now.
@Fed Staffer I think it’s fairly evident that Christine DeLong is the new big thing on the campus illustration scene. She does the Spec, B&W, and of course our fine publication, which includes this issue’s cover graphic. It’s just a shame that she’ll be graduating at the end of the year, she’ll be sorely missed.
@i wish the fed had satirized culpa
@if only Believe it or not, The Blue and White actually did that a few years back. Not sure if any of the current staff were involved with it, but it was actually quite a funny feature.
@Years? I think that was like three months ago, but I can’t find it on the web.
@hmm I think it was sometime last year actually
@is it just me? i like the fed.
@X.J. The fed really has been getting consistently better. They nailed the Bwog comments– compare this thread with the fictional one. Keep up the good work, Fed.
@Relation Fed >= Bwog
@Chas Carey What? The Fed is one of those ships from “The Empire Strikes Back” that shoots grappling hooks at the Bwog?
nuh-uh. We’re totally that snow creature thing. That thing was awesome. The Bwog is… uh… Carrie Fisher.
Thanks as always, Bwog!
@oh, nyu completely unrelated…
@face shut up
@This just in... The Fed is not funny and needs to get over itself. Also, it needs to stop putting it’s garbage in front of my door.
@Oh Bah That is to say “putting its garbage”
I know I’ll be jumped on for that.
@really? It appears Mr. anonymous asshole bedroom critic doesn’t like being made fun of…
@Well Well I see anonymous name-calling seems to be your specialty as well. The hypocrisy of your post is overwhelming.
That aside, the Fed is alright but the problem is that it’s like the same joke each issue and through the whole issue. It’s like listening to a band whose songs all sound the same, but that sound is pretty good; great at first but it gets old fast.
@blarg Ah! The Fed is overwhelmingly obnoxious
@Actually this issue was pretty funny. But I understand that admitting that is not as cool as calling it “overwhemingly obnoxious”
