An anonymous Staff Writer, like many of you, longs to be reunited with Team Ferris Forever’s iconic avocado toast bar or as another Bwogger noted, “green goo” bar and is here to help you fill that void.

Although my recipe can not compare to the Michelin Star Ferris version, I thought I would attempt to recreate it to the best of my ability.

Ingredients: Serves 1

  • half of an avocado
  • one or two pieces bread
  • everything but the bagel seasoning (Trader Joes) or normal salt
  • red pepper flakes

Replicating Ferris Avocado/“Green Goo”

  1. Cut the avocado in half.
    1. You will only need half of it for the recipe– I recommend storing the other half with the pit still inside as it will last longer.
  2. Transfer the avocado to a bowl.
    1. Mash the avocado using a fork till you have reached a similar thick paste-like consistency to that of Ferris’s.
    2. Optional: If you want the color to match the vibrant green of Ferris’s, I would suggest adding green food dye.

Replicating the Toast

  1. Put the bread in the toaster until golden brown .
    1. *Voila* you have made the toast
      1. Note: I used a whole wheat english muffin when preparing this for myself, but feel free to use your preferred type of bread.

Assembling the Avocado Toast

  1. Put the toast on a plate.
  2. Transfer the green avocado paste evenly to the piece/pieces of toast.
    1. Spread the green avocado paste on the toast using a fork.
  3. Sprinkle salt on top to mimic the familiar Ferris taste.
    1. Replace the salt with Everything but the Bagel Seasoning and Red Chili Flakes to elevate the flavor of the dish.
