This past Thursday, Staff Writer Olivia Chiroiu attended “The Spiritual Life of Social Movements,” a lecture by Professor Nyle Fort as part of the Thursday lecture series hosted by The Society of Fellows.

This week’s “Every Event On Campus” features the analysis of Guatemala’s political crisis, the annual Beyond Content lecture series, and the launch of a new series on social work and social movements.

On Monday, December 4, a faculty roundtable titled “On Feminism and Palestine” examined the history of Palestine and the ongoing violence in Gaza from feminist, queer, and postcolonial frameworks.

Staff Writer Ava Schwabecher attended the keynote conversation between Angela Davis and Barbara Ransby at the Ella Baker National One-Day Symposium. The world-renowned political activists discussed the Black radical feminist tradition, the reverberations of Ella Baker’s legacy, and their experiences as part of the Free Palestine Movement.

Barnard Zine’s Library taught us that journaling in all its forms can be a deeply personal and important ritual.

On Wednesday, Khushi Chhaya attended a college-wide talk by Barnard College Professor Mulu Gebreyohannes on green growth and sustainable development in Ethiopia.

On Wednesday, Staff Writers Peyton Goodman and Ashna Shah attended a seminar held by Columbia University’s Center for Science and Society on the evolving methods of identifying mushrooms. The event was part of the New York History of Science Lecture Series.

Five leaders, authors, and organizers who are working towards renewable energy systems for New York City spoke about their efforts this Tuesday in a panel co-sponsored by the Architecture, Environmental Science, and Urban Studies departments.

On Wednesday afternoon, Staff Writer Elaine Lloyd attended an event where Dr. Gillian Triggs, the UNHCR’s Assistant High Commissioner for Protection, held a discussion with members of the Columbia Committee on Forced Migration on taking action to further implement the UN’s Global Compact on Refugees.
