I spent many, many, many hours traveling home and back last week. Here’s some music that helped me pass the time.

Something strange happens to time during travel. This is especially true of the 16-hour train ride I take to travel between home and school. Time constricts; it expands. Once fully settled into the journey, it becomes impossible to imagine that I ever lived a life outside of the train. But as soon as I disembark, it is almost as if it never happened.

I hope that if you have any travels upcoming, you will take a moment to be grateful for the fleeting glimpses of the world passing by. Allow yourself the rare chance to be truly idle, occupied with nothing other than the journey itself. With the pace and pressures of this school, how often do we have the chance to be neither here nor there, with nothing to do but enjoy the act of passing through? All that matters is the trees and fields slipping by as you venture from station to station; both the point of departure and destination fade over the horizon.

Here’s some music I like to travel to; I hope it makes your next journey roll along smoothly.
