This week ESC discussed how best to allocate funding for prizes and swag, a linguistics minor, and how to make the homestretch of this semester kind of bearable.

Believe it or not, this semester is more than halfway over. Time flies (not). ESC is trying to alleviate some of your stress in these last few weeks. 

This week, ESC discussed creating a mission statement, town hall meetings for SEAS students, and several opportunities to collaborate with CCSC.

This week’s episode, I mean General Body Meeting, of the ESC featured discussions about creating a new biology minor and more new faces. 

This week, ESC welcomed its new members and discussed transitions, time zones, events, and chips. Staff Writer Leora Schloss, self described “clueless CC student,” reports (and tries to understand engineers). 

In an email to CC and SEAS students sent this morning, the Columbia Election Commission announced student government representatives for the coming years and the passage of the divestment referendum. 61.04% of participating students voted in support of the University’s divestment from companies that profit from or support Israeli policy toward Palestinian people.

CCSC’s election results are the first in and largely favor CU on Houseparty!. This post will be updated to reflect the results of other student council elections as they are released.

ESC had their last meeting of the year, marking the end of the current councils terms. In a very short open meeting, they vote on resolutions and discuss a potential stance on grading for Fall 2020. ESC Bureau Chief Lori Luo reports for the last time this school year.
