NYPD swarmed this past Saturday as 4 unknown men were arrested at the 116th Gates. This morning, Vice President of Public Safety James McShane shed a little more light on the situation to us, by specifying the individuals were adolescents unassociated with Columbia. Among them were two individuals who “had been previously barred from campus […]
About 125 seniors gathered on Low around noon today to honor the time-honored tradition of sippin’ 40s on the Steps forty days before graduation. Public Safety was there in spades, kicking seniors off who didnt have their beer concealed, including those who had their beer in Nalgenes or other clear containers. Seniors with beer in […]

In the first Security Alert about a robbery in just over a month, a Columbia “affiliate” was robbed while “walking along the foot path on the lower level of Riverside Park adjacent near W. 116th Street.” Two males–one wearing a mask, the other described as Hispanic–approached the affiliate; the male with a mask brandished a […]
According to the recently released Annual Fire Safety and Security Report for 2009, Columbians can sleep more soundly this year than ever before: the on-campus crime rate has decreased compared to 2006-2008, all buildings have been found to comply with the NYC Fire Code, and the University has received an A grade in the (apparently) […]

A Bwog tipster spotted this brigade of Public Safety officers leading a handcuffed individual out of Low a little after noon. Though the timing coincides with the appearance of Kofi Annan at the World Leaders Forum in the Rotunda, VP of Public Safety James McShane now tells us the incident was unrelated to the goings-on […]

Earlier today Housing Services sent out an email detailing new procedures for fire drills. Apparently, “during these fire drills and any other fire alarm, all students are required by law to exit the building.” Seems straightforward enough. But, in a Dean Wormer-like attempt to put a stop to shenanigans, soon a combination force of people […]
