Last Wednesday, Columbia Medical Center’s Division of Narrative Medicine held a talk with cardiologist Dr. Sandeep Juahar. He detailed his new memoir, introducing his brilliant father’s descent into dementia and the science and experience of searching for answers. 

On Friday, the Center on Global Energy Policy (CGEP) at Columbia University, School of International and Public Affairs hosted an event titled “Environmental Casteism and Climate Disaster,” the first of four events in a climate justice series.

On Wednesday, Staff Writer Adria Marin attended Columbia University School of International and Public Affairs (SIPA) and the Aspen Institute Science & Society Program’s lecture by Lee McIntyre, where he explored an interesting philosophical question.

On Wednesday, Staff Writers Peyton Goodman and Ashna Shah attended a seminar held by Columbia University’s Center for Science and Society on the evolving methods of identifying mushrooms. The event was part of the New York History of Science Lecture Series.

On Friday, Staff Writers Peyton Goodman and Shaina Sahu attended a seminar held by Columbia University’s Lamont-Doherty Earth Observatory on the applications of machine learning in the ocean sciences.

Last Tuesday, the Columbia Climate School hosted Dr. Alex de Sherbinin, Dr. Kristina G. Douglass, and Dr. Radley Horton for a conversation moderated by Jeffrey Schlegelmilch on climate change, climate disasters, and how to move forward.

On Monday, The Mailman School of Public Health held a panel discussion featuring leaders from the Lenape Center to discuss Lenape epistemologies and healthcare.

An event held by Columbia University’s Zuckerman Institute and the National Jazz Museum in Harlem developed an interesting dialogue between the biology behind generational trauma and the ways in which it is reflected in music.
