Courtesy of the V-Show, in advance of their info session on Saturday. No palm trees this year, but there are cardboard cutouts of James Franco and Prezbo for all your silly picture needs. Also, if you forgot yesterday, ProjectHealth is still offering free cupcake coupons for old winter coats at the Sundial.

Like many of you, last night the staff of the Blue and White attended the 115th Annual Varsity Show, “The Gates of Wrath.” The Varsity Show should not be, as most people say, about collectively making fun of ourselves and our school. It’s about collectively doing something—anything—together. And last night, at the premiere of the […]
But everybody else is doing it! I know, I know, I’ll get to it eventually. Okay, so I made that part up. But the spirit of it is true. They gave me all of those column inches — I couldn’t let them go to waste! I’m no different than you. It’s just that I’m better.
The Varsity Show and the Blue and White are looking for experienced graphic artists who are comfortable using Adobe Photoshop to clean up photos and make them illustration-quality (see examples at right). Your skills will be put to use in designing the images in the Varsity Show program. If you’re interested, please email bweditors@columbia.edu immediately.
Meet the cast and chorus (they’re calling them the “principals” and the “ensemble,” but no matter) and design team of the 115th Annual Varsity Show! It looks like nary a cast or chorus member of the 114th Annual Varsity Show has returned. Traditionally, cast members are notified of their acceptance by being hit in the […]
There’s a large bowl filled with a well-chosen and surprisingly photogenic mix of candy (gum, mints, SweetTarts, Laffy Taffy, etc.) currently waiting for you by the western elevators on Lerner 5. Be sure to thank your friends in the Varsity Show, who are the benefactors of your sugar rush. UPDATE 5:18 PM: Candy time’s […]

Last night, like many of you, The Blue and White attended the premiere of the 114th Annual Varsity Show. The Blue and White staff reviews. Lions, erections, and bears, oh my! The Bwog is no stranger to hate–for details, see our ill-fated Yorkie Roundtable and that time we reminded you our name is not spelled […]
Bwog is taking it slow today and, most likely, so are you. Luckily, the good people at the 114th Annual Varisty Show (a.k.a. Morningside Hates) have unveiled their website. It features high-larious Dateline-style investigations of the V-show’s alleged misdeeds. Bwog has, of course, watched all the videos, but isn’t quite feeling up to full reviews. […]
Last night, the cast and crew of the 114th Annual Varsity Show performed two half-hour previews. Deep in the nether regions of the “dive bar” formerly known as the West End, students and parents, as per tradition, filed into seats and booths around in the open space and piano in the back. The preview was narrated by […]
We weren’t quite sure what to think when the Varsity Show C-team came calling with a request to ask you, dear readers, to tell them how to write this year’s show. Do they really want to expose themselves to netizen ridicule? What good could come of a thread full of ad hominem attacks? But since […]
At approximately 4:30 AM last night, the students chosen to be in the 114th Annual Varsity Show’s cast were inducted into Columbia’s oldest theatrical tradition in the customary way – by getting hit in the face with pies. Around 70 people total auditioned, as opposed to 85 in ’06. Fewer people auditioning didn’t make the […]
Do you ever get nostalgia for your boarding/private school days? Cardigans? The old boys’ club? The Varsity Show has set up a country club on Low plaza, complete with cucumber sandwiches, Arnold Palmer’s, bubble gum cigars, and neon golf balls. Delicious!
