Ballin’ Over Break

By Bwog Staff on Dec 14, 2012 34 Comments

Have you ever wondered what it would be like to stay on campus over winter break? You may be like Bwog and predict a mental breakdown would ensue if you had to see Butler one more time after your last exam, let alone repeatedly for weeks. But a winter break in Morningside Heights is the […]

2Girls1Snack: Eggnog

By Bwog Staff on Dec 14, 2012 9 Comments

In this edition of 2girls1snack, our intrepid tasters take on that most insidious yet strangely beloved of holiday treats: eggnog. Despite their (for one) general aversion to this creamy concoction and (for the other) total inexperience with this and most other elements of Christmas, the 2girls did extensive research in the name of science. And, […]

Barnard Mails ED Letters This Week, Sees Record Numbers Of Applicants (Again)

By Bwog Staff on Dec 14, 2012 17 Comments

Barnard is mailing its acceptance letters for early decision applicants this week, and reports record numbers of applicants for the third year in a row. Congratulations to the Class of 2017, who now await their decision by snail-mail only. Believe it or not, future first-years, that part might be easier than using eBear. Statement from […]

Bwog in Bed: What Are Finals?

By Bwog Staff on Dec 14, 2012 2 Comments

Did you get completely caught up in last night’s drama, too?  Between finals, protestination, and The Hobbit premiere there is no reason any Columbia student should have been asleep before 2 am last night.  So stay asleep a little longer, hit snooze, and stay in bed with us.  But once we close our eyes and […]

Orgo Night (And Associated Protests, Counter-Protests) 2012

By Bwog Staff on Dec 13, 2012 137 Comments

With all the controversy the CUMB has been stirring up in the past few hours, you’d be a fool to miss Orgo Night. You’d also be a fool to give up your hard-won Butler seat, though, and to stuff your way into a crowd of desperate, tired people. Below, the best of both worlds: a […]

Actual Wisdom: Herbert Sloan

By Bwog Staff on Dec 13, 2012 14 Comments

Tonight’s Actual Wisdom offers sage advice on the relative values of cheeses, more weird clubs professors are part of, and the sinister side of artichokes. 1. Justify your existence in 30 words or fewer. I exist to help undergraduates acquire a credential that this society seems to value. 2. Your claim to fame (what makes […]

Thesis Statement Mad Libs: FroSci And Econ Editions

By Bwog Staff on Dec 13, 2012 3 Comments

Administrators Scold the Band

By Bwog Staff on Dec 13, 2012 193 Comments

The Columbia Marching Band has not always been known for their political correctness, and this time around it seems as if they have taken their controversial humor a step too far. Many people were offended by their Orgo Night “Gaza Strip: everyone wants a piece” promo fliers and took to notifying the administration. Following this, […]

Cafe Reviews, Part Two

By Bwog Staff on Dec 13, 2012 2 Comments

In our never-ending effort to steer clear of traditional study spaces, we bring you our next installment of Cafe Reviews. This time, when we say off campus we actually mean off campus (except for the one that’s three blocks away). And brace yourself: two of these places don’t have internet, which will mean you’d only […]

To Orgo Or To Breakfast?

By Bwog Staff on Dec 13, 2012 6 Comments

Here in the darkness of finals, not one, but two time-honored procrastinatory activities are available for you tonight. You can either catch Orgo Night for politically incorrect jokes in Butler, or nourish your all-nighter at Barnard’s Midnight Breakfast — the theme this year is Electric Breakfast, which means that you have to do the electric […]

Financial Aid Wants To Feed You

By Bwog Staff on Dec 13, 2012 0 Comments

If you haven’t bought groceries in the last two weeks because Westside isn’t in Butler, you’re in luck. The Office of Financial Aid is hosting a “Meet, Eat, And Greet” tonight from 4 to 6 p.m. in the Satow Room. This time frame is also right before the library dinner-time turnover, so you may have […]

Overseen: Notes That Are More Aggressive Than Passive

By Bwog Staff on Dec 13, 2012 2 Comments

We all hate Butler campers — and we all are Butler campers. One brave bitch going crazy, though, has had enough with the vicious cycle and the abandoned backpacks. Don’t be scared by the latent rage present, though; the heart at the end means that they really do like you, don’t worry, and they’re not […]
