In light of that ever-approaching midterm grind–oh wait, it’s already here—we don’t blame you for spending hours every day fantasizing about the impending spring break madness that will commence in just 10 short days. We’re all guilty of it. One Bwogger even confessed to ordering a bikini and one of those giant floppy sun hats […]
Yesterday, we had sun. Last night, we had wind chills. Two days before, it was sort of gray. This weather is confusing, but with any luck, spring will… spring (for real) very soon! In the meantime, you can act like it has already sprung by stocking up on delicious organic foods at the Greenmarket that […]
It’s been a very stressful week—sophomores made major decisions, everyone except for seniors chose 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, or none of their best friends to live with. Oh, and in case you haven’t noticed from all of our trite “Midterms are here!” ledes, midterms are here. We’ve brought you Brocrastination, kept you […]
The lights were removed from College Walk, which is kind of exciting! Here’s why: Columbia doesn’t feel the need to distract us from terrible weather with pretty non-denominational holiday decorations for the rest of the semester. So, maybe the weather won’t be terrible from here on out. Q.E.D. See the newly bare trees below:
Steve Jobs released a second version of the iPad yesterday. Other tablets cower. The highlights: two cameras (front/back), FaceTime, up to 9 times faster, and a 10-hour battery life. Plus, just in time for Spring Break, it’s now 33 percent thinner! (WSJ, Apple, Gizmodo, PC World) In a Supreme Court battle between funeral protesters and […]
Amid those emails from your TA and that club you went to once just for that cute girl, you may have noticed messages from mysterious aliases, lists-cc@columbia-listserv-cc.listserv.org or columbia@lists-columbia.listserv.org, inviting you to join an even more cryptic “Columbia Listserv.” While these emails may appear to be legitimate and the site claims to be “institution-sponsored,” CUIT gave […]

Barnard President Debora Spar held her latest fireside chat last night, and Zach Kagan was there to drink in the excitement. DSpar verily sparkled! Spar, although set apart from her audience in the middle of an arc of empty seats, conducted the chat more or less as a community conversation. The evening was focused on the […]
Columbia’s ivory tower does not exist in a vacuum after all! A hard freeze in Mexico, which forced Wendy’s to offer tomatoes by request only, has struck our very own Ferris Booth. Ferris will not serve tomatoes “until further notice.” However, it’s not all bad—the tomato shortage is probably good for tomato farmers demanding one more […]
Lost either in Milbank or the Diana around 1 pm 15 inch Aluminum Macbook in black padded zip-up case. Please return if found—all my files are on it! Monetary reward will absolutely be given! Email: ljw2133@barnard.edu
Columbia’s Center for Environmental Research and Conservation hosted an eight-hour symposium yesterday on biodiversity. Planet Earth enthusiast Mahima Chablani stopped by one of the afternoon lectures, named “Conserving the World’s Biodiversity: Global and Local Perspectives.” You can read about the full program here. Five working in the environmental sciences spoke in turn on their professional […]
Housing got you down? Kick worries to the curb by sending Bwog your raunchy, goofy, or just plain zany housing group names! Puggles in Ruggles dreams of tiny mixed breeds. Pussy Pounders Anonymous… that’s kind of self-explanatory. Leave them in the comments, or email them to tips@bwog.com. What we wanted, from Wikimedia.
