Recently, the Columbia University Sailing Team was sent a concerned email from a CC ’60 alumnus requesting to unsubscribe from the team’s mailing list (see photo below). This brave soldier inspired us, as a collective alumnus of midterm exams, to speak up as well.
Bwog Breaded Good Amara shares a Butler diary entry at this fine hour of 3:21am. Nothing reminds me of November like a failed course registration, JJ’s sugar-only hot chocolate, and running around this library at 3am with no shoes on. Oh yeah, and thumbtacks in Ferris potatoes. ~~~Ahh, fall~~~~ In the late (barefooted) nights I’ve spent […]
Happening in the World: A New Zealand fisherman saved a drowning toddler after mistaking him for a porcelain doll floating in the ocean. The young boy had wandered away from his parent’s campsite while they were sleeping (The Guardian). Happening in the U.S.: The Democrats took back the House of Representatives, gaining at least 26 seats. Republicans retain […]
Tonight’s meeting was straightforward, as the council focused on fun upcoming events after midterms! GSSC Bureau Chief Andrew Chee sacrifices his Butler time to bring you this delicious recap. Stephanie Jennings, a senior health specialist at Columbia Health Services, was tonight’s guest speaker, opening up a conversation about what students would like to see more […]
As the first wave of midterms rolls around, Bwog’s staff members manage to do some wholesome this weekend between all the studying. If you have any stories that you think may be a good addition to this, email us at tips@bwog.com and we will add to it! Studious Bwog Found my new fav study spot @ Columbia […]
Midterms are almost done, but you’re probably feeling even more done. As a little motivation to get you through the final stretch, Bwogger Sarah Dahl has a playlist to conquer your midterm blues. This playlist doesn’t actually contain any blues songs because I don’t feel qualified to recommend blues songs. Instead, it’s a mix of […]
According to the registrar’s office, today is Midterm Day, meaning we’ve officially made it halfway through our semester. This comes as surprising news for some, but it feels like about fucking time for others. The chandelier in Ref is definitely one of these others, as it, like the rest of us, appears to be quite burnt out. […]
It’s about that time again. Midterms are approaching… or they’ve already approached… or you’re neck deep and have already failed two this week. Whatever your current situation, music always helps. We’ve compiled an eclectic mix of songs, from a wide range of artists, spanning a vast assortment of genres. to guide you on your journey through […]
It’s the thick of midterms. Fall break is merely days away, but it feels like we will never escape the bleak days of studying in Butler and crying into our Blue Java coffee cups. Alas, we will make it through even the darkest of nights somehow. To ease the pain, we bring you some of the […]
Midterms are still in full swing, and as work piles up, any unexpected complication can feel overwhelming. Whether that means suddenly catching the flu or going through a breakup, this playlist is here to commiserate with you (and if you’re simply just stressed out by midterms, that’s fine too!!). Flesh without Blood by Grimes – The […]
Got a bad score on your calc midterm? Can’t go out with friends this weekend because you’re too busy studying? Or maybe you just got that bug that’s been going around campus this time of year? Either way, this playlist is here for you, to help you commiserate and maybe cry over your homework if […]
Somehow, one of our staff members has lucked into having no midterms this week. This anonymous Bwogger tells us what it’s like to be “free” this week–or, rather, what we think it’s like. Everyone around me is, in their words, “dying.” On this busy week of ours, libraries are packed and hope is scarce. “One more week,” my […]
Bwog was wondering: What do you watch or listen to when you go into an exam knowing you’ll fail? Here’s how we pump ourselves up in anticipation of failure, when we’ve really just got to say “fuck it, we’re doing it live.” “The World’s Greatest” by R. Kelly “You Make My Dreams Come True” by Hall […]
Here’s your biweekly Drinking With Bwog fix with JJ Rivera from the Columbia Bartending Agency (CBA). If you think you need more alcohol in your life, check out the CBA class schedule. Are you ready to secretly curse the sadistic professor who swore their midterm was easy? Are you nervous about how lack of sleep […]
In honor of today officially being the midterm–the true mid-point of the semester, as officiated by the registrar–Midterm Maven Britt Fossum defends the bane of your existence. I’m a little concerned that midterms need defending at all. What happened to the enthusiasm for learning and that high school grind to excel? What did you think […]
